Paediatric Clinic
The department is headed by Dr. Oringe F.N. Okwara, a consultant paediatrician with a wide experience in tropical childhood diseases. She holds a master's degree in paediatrics and child health.Â
The general paediatric ward has a six bed capacity. There is also a newborn unit with baby cots and two incubators. The wards have a baby friendly ambience for the quick recovery of the children.
Our staff have a wide experience in nursing ill children. This has given us a much shorter turn around hospital stay time for most of our patients.Â
The paediatric outpatient clinic runs every Thursday and Saturday morning between 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.This clinic offers an opportunity for continued follow up of any children with chronic or recurrent conditions, as well as offering an opportunity for refferals for any difficult cases seen by the general practitioners.Â
Emergency paediatric cases received at the hospital are seen by the general practitioners in constant consultation with the paediatrician, who can be called upon if need arises.Â
We have a well baby clinic which runs every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
This gives an opportunity for growth monitoring, developmental assessment and immunisation to children. Other departments also support child care including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, nutrition, counselling and surgical.Â
The hospital looks forward to expanding the paediatric facility to accomodate the increasing demand for the services. Â
