FOOD IN RELATION TO DISEASES
Foods that help prevent cancer:
Soy bean
Soy bean is a super legume which contains more protein and iron more than meat, more protein than milk. It is responsible for better reproductive health and lowers breast and prostate cancer.
The ant carcinogenic and photochemical is contained such as genisteinare effective against breast and prostate cancer.
                                                     Fruits:
Citrus fruits e.g. lemon, oranges, grapes contain vit c and photochemical like flavanoids lemonades and pectin which have anticarcinogeniceffect.
Plums and apples
Protect against colon cancer
Guavas and kiwi fruit contain high concentration of vitamin c.
Fruit berries e.g. straw berries, black currant, are rich in anthocynanins, powerful antioxidants that prevent formation of free radical that have carcinogenic effect.
Pineapple
Prevents stomach cancer
Olive oil
Reduces the risk of breast cancer
Garlic
Contains flavanoid and salfurated essences that protect against cancer. Boost immunity. Also contains a chemical allicin which lowers blood glucose level and lowers blood pressure.
Yoghurt
Bacterial culture leuconostoc and streptococcus bacillus that protect against breast cancer.
Food high in fiber

Cured meat, grilled/roasted meats, Fried meat, fatty meats, smoked pickled salted or highly spiced foods, consuming very hot foods and beverages, alcoholic beverages, refined foods due to lack of fiber,exsess sugar content and trans fatty acid.
                                           Anti nutrients in food
Enzymes inhibitors e.g. trypsin and amylase
Found mostly in cereals anti amylase and amyl amylase.
Avidin. Protein in eggs which are raw which combine with biotin to prevent its absorption
Dietary fiber and phytates
Common in cereals and pulses combine with iron, calcium and zinc to form a complex inhibiting absorption.
Oxalates and phosphates.
Hinder absorption of minerals by forming complexes in the git.
Goistrogens
Found in brassica family e.g. kales, cabbage and spinach
Interferes with iodine absorption
Anti vitamins in fish called thiaminase destroys thiamine absorption

Lathyrism
Causes paralysis of one leg and body weakness due to consumption of certain peas of genius lathyrus.
Fauvism:
Contained in fabia beans which causes hemolytic anemia and its precipitated by the pollen grains of the bean
Amygdaline
Causes chronic toxicity and common in bitter almonds which has cyanogenic glycoside

Dhurrin
Toxic constituents in sorghum, millet, on hydrolysis of sugar and hydrogen cyanide
Lanstastralin
Mostly in cassava which contain cyanogenic glycoside which causes toxicity.

Mostly in poorly stored food which produces molds e.g. cereals that are toxic,
