ULTRASOUND UNIT
It is useful in Obstetrics; Evaluation of Foetal (Unborn) abnormalities
Ultrasound permits the direct examination of the external and internal anatomy of the foetus and detection of malformations. The accurate prenatal diagnosis of the foetal abnormalities provide many couples who choose to have such, with a more informed basis upon which to make reproductive decisions.
In this situation treatment may involve altering the Obstetric management for the benefit of the foetus or even treating the foetus before birth.
This unit (Ultrasound) also helps to find diseases of the liver, kidney e.t.c
 USES
  > Estimation of gestational age for patients with uncertain clinical date or verification of dates for patients who undergo scheduled, elective caesarean delivery, indicating induction of labour, or other elective termination of pregnancy.
> Evaluation of foetal growth.
> Vaginal bleeding or undetermined etiology in pregnancy.
> Determination of foetal presentation.
> Suspected multiple pregnancy/ gestation.
> Significant uterine size / clinical dates discrepancy.
> Pelvic mass
> Suspected hydatid mole or suspected ectopic pregnancy
> Suspected foetal death.
> Estimation of foetal weight presentation in premature rupture of membranes and/or premature labour.
> Suspected abruptio placenta. e.t.c.
> Investigation of tumorsÂ
