OUR HISTORY
Metropolitan Hospital is a 160-bed level 5 facility located in the greater Eastlands Nairobi. The hospital has been in existence for 29 years now; having begun in 1994. The initial idea came from a group of young professionals, many of them medical doctors who yearned for a mid-cost hospital that would cater to the under-served Eastlands community in Nairobi, Kenya. In 2013, the leadership started an aggressive expansion drive to grow the physical infrastructure and expand the scope of tertiary/specialized care. In 2017, the founders partnered with a private equity investor that led to a merger with Ladnan Hospital. The equity fund has since matured, and the hospital was able to buy itself back, now being majorly owned by Kenyan shareholders. Supported by a team of 435 staff and more than 206 doctors and visiting consultants, Metropolitan Hospital has since grown to become Eastlands' medical hub, offering an Ultra-modern Doctor’s Plaza, Accident and Emergency, Theatre, ICU, Imaging Centre, and Class F Lab, which meets the highest safety and accuracy standards in diagnostic testing, among other services. The hospital is known for being family-centric, cost-effective, and high-quality. Metropolitan is accredited by the Council for Health Service Accreditation (COHSASA) for maintaining quality standards.
